Election day is here!
As I reflect about the past two months I am filled with gratitude, pride, and a whole lot of hope.
I am so grateful for each vote, every lawn sign, every dollar donated, every word of encouragement, like, share, follow, every kind gesture, every opportunity to engage and have conversations. I thank you for your questions, I appreciate your time to find the candidates who resonated with you, and I am incredibly proud of putting myself out there and running my first ever municipal campaign.
I believe I showed up as my true self, I said what I believed in, I only promised to work hard and to investigate backyard chickens to my 5-year-old, I stayed quiet on social media, I went out of my comfort zone and challenged myself to have hard conversations, knocking on doors and answering difficult emails.
Tonight, I can sit back filled with hope that whether I am elected or not, Kingsville has a good future ahead.
I met candidates on this trail who are as passionate as me about our community. I met candidates who were incredibly well researched, visionary, and articulated themselves professionally. I met candidates who brought skills that I don’t, and I met candidates that I would be honoured to work with on town council. So regardless of whether I am at that table or not, I am hopeful that our municipality has a bright future.
I am hopeful that this election has taught us something – we can do hard things, but we can do it through kindness and positivity. Just like that Jack Miner Public School sign said. We can agree to disagree, we can have different opinions but at the end of the day the people on that council are there to make decisions, with advisement of experts on what is best for the Town of Kingsville.
If you have not voted already, I hope you do so today! Make your voice count and use a black pen and circle in Sheri Lowrie.
